Slaid Cleaves played at The Point in Bryn Mawr, PA Thursday nite, with
Brooks Williams opening. In a act of graciousness not seen too often, after
Slaid played a pretty full set, he invited Brooks back up on stage to
alternate songs, and they played 10 or 12 more tunes. Sharing the stage,
giving up his own time, Slaid showed how easy it is to be generous, all to
the audience's benefit. Brooks' backup guitar and guitar solos enhanced
Slaid's songs, and the audience was treated to unmatched guitar virtuosity
with cuts from Brooks' recent all-instrumental album. Both Brooks' album
and Slaid's new Rounder release "Brokedown" are on local station WXPN, and
the airplay helped fill the house. The Point has emerged as the very best
place to hear music in Philadelpha - clean, smoke-free, good food, excellent
clear sound, soft lights, and a gentle ambiance. Thanks to owners Richard
Kardon and partners for opening The Point a year and a half ago. The
tradition of the Main Point lives!

And, Slaid - he doesn't have to chase grace - he is grace. With Slaid,
grace is easily found. Antje Duvekot, a local singer, opened the show. She
should get over her jitters - her voice is lovely, and her songs speak for
themselves.
