Vocal Folkus Music is pleased to announce the sixth show in their house
concert series - great acoustic music in an intimate, smoke-free
environment. We will be presenting Charlottesville, VA artist Terri
Allard on Saturday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m. We are located in North
Raleigh.

When she plays a coffeehouse, some people will say, 'Oh! You're a
country singer.' And when she plays a
country bar, people will say, 'Oh! You're a folk singer.' Terri
Allard's music is smack dab in the middle of country and folk, and
sometimes it's pop, too.

Terri has taken her rootsy blend of folk, country, and acoustic pop to
countless clubs and coffeehouses throughout the U.S. She's twice been a
finalist at the Kerrville, Texas New Folk Festival, and once each at the
Telluride Troubadour Festival in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Folks
Festival Showcase. She's also performed twice in the Emerging
Singer/Songwriter Showcases at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New
York, and as a main stage showcase artist for the North American Folk
and Dance Alliance Conference.

She's a frequent WAMMIES (Washington Area Music Association Awards)
nominee, having garnered three nominations as Best Female Country
Vocalist and single nominations for Best Country Trio and Best Country
Recording for her second release, "Rough Lines."

Terri has opened for or shared the stage with some of country and folk
music's finest performers, including Nanci Griffith, John Prine, Guy
Clark, John McCutcheon, Roger McGuinn, Gillian Welch, Delbert McClinton,
Steve Forbert, Tracy Nelson, Greg Brown, Ellis Paul, Brooks Williams,
Kelly Willis, Tish Hinojosa, and Sammy Kershaw.

In 1994 Terri released her critically acclaimed self-titled debut CD,
featuring 11 original soul-filling alternative country rockers and
contemporary heart-breakers. She shifted musical gears for her 1996
follow-up disc - in a back-to-basics movement, she revived the acoustic
side of her music. She recorded that second album in a two room century
old wooden chapel on the outskirts of Charlottesville, Virginia with the
help of some of Virginia's best musicians. The result is "Rough Lines,"
a beautifully simple collection of songs featuring Terri's rock solid
songwriting, the picking prowess of Jim Taggert on mandolin, violin and
acoustic guitar, Sonny Layne on upright bass, Jeff Saine on accordion
and lap steel, and Gary Green's harmonica magic.

On her 3rd CD, "Loose Change and Spare Parts," Terri shows off her
strength as a vocalist and the variety in her songwriting. The album
takes up where her previous album left off, featuring the same players
but a slightly more aggressive style.

Terri is currently in the studio recording her fourth album.
