Hey f_m friends -
There are still seats available for this Sunday afternoon's Grassy Hill
House Concert in beautiful Lyme, CT, featuring Boston sensation LORI
MCKENNA with special guest KEVIN BRIODY in our special "Pregame Show." :)
Lori McKenna hails from Massachusetts's South Shore and has taken the
Northeast folk world by storm in the last few years, with her album PAPER
WINGS AND HALO pronounced one of the best debuts since Dar Williams. Lori's
distinctive voice and affecting lyrics seem to have an almost hypnotic
effect on her listeners: if you weren't a fan walking in the door, you're
gonna be one when you leave, especially in our intimate 1750 farmhouse with
its near-perfect acoustics.
Connecticut's own Kevin Briody has travelled from his front porch in
Ridgefield to perform at some of the biggest folk festivals in America,
including Kerrville and Falcon Ridge, and big clubs and famous
coffeehouses, but we're excited to have him visit Grassy Hill for the first
time, where his easy sound and incisive songwriting can fill the room.
It's gonna be a great show, and you'll make it home for kickoff with time
to spare. Music begins at 3pm, but come early at 2:30 for a coffee and
dessert reception (no nachos or popcorn, you'll want to leave room for
those later!), and if weather permits, a peek at our new Performance Barn
which opens in May - you'll be amazed. The suggested donation is $12 which
all goes to the performers.
For reservations and directions, call us at 860-434-8208 (press 3) or send
email to info@grassyhill.org . We are nonsmoking and we welcome
well-behaved kids. No pygmy hedgehogs please.
