Hello, List People!
My name is Sue Fink, I live in Chicago & am a fan of good music, and now also
a beginning singer-songwriter. From time to time I post a review here if
I've been to a show that's really blown me away, and about a month ago I
posted about Ariane Lydon, an extremely talented performer with a pleasant
manner, unique voice, and the unbelievable talent of being able to play a
harp & 12-string guitar at the same time, an amazing thing to see and hear.
Well, on Friday, April 6th, 9PM, Ariane is returning to the Hideout (1354 W.
Wabansia St. in Chicago, 773/227-4433) for a CD release show. I haven't
heard her new CD yet but based on her wonderful "Lady of the Green" CD, I can
hardly wait. Nancy Walker (formerly of Sons of the Never Wrong, and a
wonderful singer-songwriter herself) is organizing this, and I e-mailed Nancy
to get more details so I could post them here. Here's what she sent me:
<<For the past decade Ariane has been touring virtually nonstop performing at
folk festivals, performing arts centers, radio stations and coffehouses
throughout the U.S and Canada. Now, with a recent move to southwestern
Wisconsin, she has successfully launched her solo career as a world
singer-songwriter-composer.
Ariane is at the forefront of a generation of reclaiming traditional acoustic
music. On 12- & 6-string guitars, Celtic Harp, Bodhran and vocals she
displays amazing versatility reflecting her rich musical heritage in original
contemporary form.
The latest of her 7 albums, "Lady Of The Green" on O'vert Records, is
receiving critical acclaim in print and airplay and radio stations in the
U.S., Candada,
Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Belgium, The British
Isles and Chile. Her new all instrumental CD which we are releasing at this
show is called "The Open Harp" which makes her 8th record. >>
As a special treat, "La,La,La" -- SueDemel (of Sons of the Never Wrong),
Jennifer Bienemann & Nancy Walker -- are opening for Ariane with guitarist
Larry Clyman. These ladies have super voices and are excellent harmony-ists
(is that a word?) and blend very well together & are fun to watch & hear.
My disclaimer: I do know the members of La,La,La and am a fan of each of
their music. While I've seen Ariane perform once before, I've never met her;
I just wanted to pass on this information because I think it's going to be an
excellent show.
thanks,
Sue Fink, ZSparrow@aol.com
