My name is Douglas Imbrogno and I am one of the people behind the 
launch of a new singer-songwriter music event called the Mountain 
Stage NewSong Festival, which will take place Friday, Aug. 9 to 
Sunday, Aug, 11, on the grounds of the Claymont Court Estate just 
outside Charles Town, West Virginia, about 65 miles west of 
Washington, D.C. The festival celebrates original songwriting and 
performance in the folk, Americana, roots, country, blues and pop 
traditions and features a large lineup of performers as well as a 
great performing songwriters' contest.

The MOUNTAIN STAGE NEWSONG FESTIVAL : A Quick Overview

THE MOUNTAIN STAGE NEWSONG FESTIVAL is a new national music festival 
that will make its debut this August on the grounds of Claymont 
Court, an historic estate in Jefferson County, West Virginia, about 
65 miles west of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore

FOR THREE DAYS, the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival will bring 
together a community of people who love to listen to and perform 
singer-songwriter music in the roots, Americana, folk, blues, pop, 
alternative and country traditions. The festival grounds will feature 
three stages of continuous live music, workshops and discussions on 
songwriting and songcraft, plus a new national performing songwriters 
contest with some impressive prizes. Music will continue at the Blue 
Cardinal Cafi and songs will be swapped late into the night around 
campfires. The festival will conclude on Sunday with a performance of 
the internationally broadcast live music program Mountain Stage.

THE FESTIVAL LINEUP INCLUDES: The Flatlanders (Jimmie Dale Gilmore, 
Joe Ely and Butch Hancock), Trout Fishing in America, Chris Smither, 
Darrell Scott, Paul Reisler, the bluehouse, Gretchen Peters, Robert 
Lee Castleman, Sam Lay, Andrew McKnight, Tim Bays, Joshua Rich, 
Johnsmith, Patrick Davis and Barbara Martin .

THE NEWSONG PERFORMING SONGWRITERS CONTEST will feature two days of 
performances with six separate cash prizes of up to $500 ($500 for 
1st Place, $400 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd, $200 for 4th and $100 for 5th. 
A sixth prize will be awarded for Best Song.) In addition to the $500 
1st place award, the grand-prize song contest winner will perform on 
Sunday's festival-ending Mountain Stage, sharing the bill with a 
lineup featuring The Flatlanders, Darrell Scott, Gretchen Peters and 
the bluehouse.

THE FESTIVAL ALSO FEATURES a host of interesting workshops and 
discussions on the art and craft of songwriting and music-making, led 
by musical guests and esteemed singer-songwriters Gretchen Peters, 
Trout Fishing in America, Robert Lee Castleman, Chris Smither, Doak 
Turner of the Nashville Songwriters Association, Kate Long  and 
others.

THE FESTIVAL CELEBRATES the music and spirit of Mountain Stage, the 
nation's premiere showcase for singers and songwriters. Mountain 
Stage is a live music program featuring performances by today's 
hottest, most esteemed musicians. Broadcast weekly on more than 200 
radio and television stations worldwide, Mountain Stage has provided 
the first national exposure for such musicians as Lucinda Williams, 
Kathy Mattea, Tori Amos, Lyle Lovett, Phish, Keb' Mo', Mary Chapin 
Carpenter, Sarah McLachlin,  Ani DiFranco, David Gray and Ryan Adams.
