I just finished listening to a few songs by Kate O'Connor. WOW!! What a
gifted artist!!

I was listening to a few songs and just taken away by her voice and
lyrics. Then on came a song which stirred my grey matter in a way that few
songs have.

Since 9/11 there have been a plethora of songs about this tragedy. Some
told the same story over and over and some were uplifting and
patriotic. To be honest, I was getting a little tired of the sappy songs
that went on and on about how horrible it was and how it changed
them. Also the fife and drum songs were starting to prove a little
overdone. Kate O'Connor's "For The Love of Oil" is from a different and
maybe somewhat unpopular view. But sometimes the truth IS unpopular and
people would rather not hear it.

Kate includes a long and informative intro which places facts right between
one's eyes. I am definitely a patriot and love this country but often am
not to thrilled with the government. Kate brings to light the United
State's responsibilities in not only the 9/11 tragedy but also in other
areas of terrorism and oppression in other lands. It is not easy to take
some level of responsibility for something so terrible and I am sure it was
not easy for Kate to write this song. But I applaud her for her
introspective thought and bravery for doing so.

Please take a moment and visit her web site http://www.kateoconnor.com/
The prelude and lyrics are posted there, but please read with an open mind
and a healing heart. After all, we all own some level of responsibility in
all world issues. It is our responsibility to recognize this and do what
we can to help, wether as simple as a vote or a protest on the White House
lawn, every little bit helps.

One day i hope to meet this fine person and shake her hand. Better yet,
give her a hug.
