[FM] Vision Well West, Van Nuys, CA

Dear Folk Music Folks,
Christi and I talked have about it for years and (inspired by a couple
of nearby venues) have finally decided to try our hand at hosting a
house concert series.

Our little place is in Van Nuys, California, convenient for folks
touring near Los Angeles. It'll be an occasional happening. We've booked
nothing to date, but are thinking about Sunday afternoons with a
premiere booking on September 15 and additional dates November 2,
January 12 and March 16.

We figure that ought to give us a feel for whether we're good at this
thing or not. My concern has always been in bringing enough people in to
make things worth the performer's while.

I'm no musician (outside of the rock bands I played drums in 20 years
ago), but have a long standing affinity for the singer/songwriter
community. My brother is among this group and I've helped to produce and
promote eight JP Jones CDs since 1991.

JP lives 3000 miles away, and runs an occasional series of his own in
Newport, RI. JP's series is called The Vision Well and since his is a model
for the types of people we'd like to book (Hugh Blumenfeld, Les Sampou and
JP himself) we're entitling ours Vision Well West.

If your a talented, touring musician, not without a sense of humor, who
plays with command and conviction and writes great songs, you're probably
not getting enough attention for your craft. If you're going to be near LA
in the timeframes mentioned above and would like to help Christi, Ian (my
15-year-old, aspiring, rock guitarist son) and I discover if we can make
Vision Well West work, I invite you to send along a CD and a press kit.

We hope to make our first booking decision in the next 30 days.
