Bill Usher last played Calgary at the Jubilee with Bruce Cockburn on the
"Circles In The Stream" tour - way back in the late 70s. We welcome him
back. As a percussionist he's played on many Canadian landmark albums with
folks like Willie P. Bennett, Valdy, Stan Rogers, Stringband, David Essig
and dozens more. He's also produced over 60 albums for a who's who of
Canadian and US artists. If you've heard Sharon, Lois & Bram's Five Little
Monkeys - that's Bill - he arranged and produced the first four SL&B albums.

This past year Bill went into the studio with a lot of his musical friends
and made his debut singer/songwriter album. Dugg Simpson, artistic director
of the Vancouver Folk Music festival wrote this in his liner notes to the
album:
"So I think maybe you've written some of the songs that Joni promised us
would come to aging children so long ago...These songs have already sung
their way into my life. They're about things that I have lived and about
things that I am living in a musical language that I understand and so
to my ears this is folk music. Who ever said it couldn't have a groove?"

Bill will play keyboard and djembe and will be accompanied by Steve Briggs
on guitars. Based in Toronto, Steve is becoming familiar to Calgary
audiences through his own western swing band the Bebop Cowboys and his work
with the Brothers Cosmoline.

of the songs.

"We are also so pleased to have our special guest John Leeder coming out to
sing a few songs with The Buccaneers. John has a great fund of Canadian trad
songs and his own compositions in that vein. He likes "big choruses", and is
looking forward to having four Buccaneer voices at his command! Go to

Breeze."
