Kate McDonnell

Kate McDonnell sings as if her life depends upon it. Shes engaging,
inventive, authentic, and charismatic. Her guitar playing is exquisite and
dynamic, and her voice will bowl you over with its beauty and power. On top of
that, shell make you howl with laughter.

Kate has been gracing the stage since the seventies - first with her twin
sister, Anne, and later as half of the very successful duo "McDonnell-Tane"
which opened for such "big-name" performers as Bob Dylan, Suzanne Vega, Kathy
Mattea, Willie Nelson, Judy Collins, Leo Kottke, and Arlo Guthrie.

In 1993, Kate launched her solo career. Since then, shes toured the US and
Europe playing at countless venues. And, at the Mt. Stage NewSong Festival
held at Claymont Court outside of Charles Town, WV, this past summer, Kate won
the song contest with her song "Go Down Moses."

Kate has garnered the respect of peers and folk fans all over the US and
Europe for her vocal abilities, adroit songwriting, and
"upside-down-and-backwards" guitar style. Also a true entertainer, shes bound
to make you laugh, for her comedic abilities were honed to perfection during
her years in the musicomedy trio "Colossal Olive."

She released her first album "Broken Bones" in 1994. On the momentum of this
first CD she was voted #1 singer-songwriter in her hometown of New Haven, CT,
appeared as a New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival as well as a
finalist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Showcase, and performed
approximately 100 gigs a year. Her songs began to appear on CD compilations in
the US and in Europe, and the invitations to perform as a guest vocalist and
guitarist on the recordings of others began to roll in. In 1998, Kate released
her second solo CD "NEXT," which took her from a regional performer to
international status. In 2001 she released "Don't Get Me Started." One month
after release, the CD was picked up by the Swiss label Brambus Records and was
in the top-five list for US and international folk airplay, generating a wave
of bookings and other trade attention. To learn more about Kate visit her
