I haven't heard the name Jane Byeala batted around in
a while. She's not very well known, but Jane is a
wonderful musician and songwriter. She has a small
handful of recordings; her first one or two were self
released in the late 80s/early 90s, and she had at
least one maybe two albums on David Seitz's Prime CD
label.

I first heard her in 1989. I was walking through New
York's Grenwich Village on a cold afternoon, and near
the Public Theater this woman was playing on the
corner, through a portable battery-powered sound
system. She was great, and had an album (real album!
LP! vinyl!) for sale. I bought it. I remember we
talked awhile, and I remember asking her if she had
any demo tapes because she'd be great at Godfrey
Daniels and I'd be happy to drop off a tape for her.
She told me thanks but that she didn't have a car so
no way to get to Bethlehem PA but thanks anyway.

There's some info on her here:

One of her albums is on serious discount there. Great
opportunity to hear a wonderful artist.

Cheers,

Chris
