Disappear Records announces Sarah Pinsker Album Release

Twenty-two year old Sarah Pinsker is starting to make her mark on the
East Coast acoustic-music circuit with shows from Massachusetts to
Mississippi. An extensive tour is planned in support of her album,
"Charmed," which was released nationally on Tuesday, April 4, 2000. The
occasion was celebrated at Buddies Pub in Baltimore. Sarah performed
that night with bassist Chris Sellman, drummer Stan Harris,
percussionist Darren Hard, and special guests SONiA of disappear fear
and Ericka Crouse of Baba Yaga.

On February 11, 2000, Baltimore-based disappear announced the formal
signing of singer-songwriter Sarah Pinsker for a two-album deal. Sarah
is the first artist to be signed to disappear records other than
disappear fear and SONiA Disappear records is an independent record
label based on the premise of promoting change through positive art. It
was founded in l988 by sisters Sonia Rutstein and Cindy Frank from the
band disappear fear, for their first release of Deep Soul Diver, which
independently sold 29 000 copies before its re-release by Rounder
Records. Rounder released five albums by disappear fear before Sonia
chose to leave the label in 1999 to re-form disappear records. The first
CD of the label's renaissance was Sonia's own 'Me, Too", released in
late 1999; the second is to be Sarah Pinsker's debut album "Charmed,"
just released on the label.

Rutstein sees Pinsker as the perfect match for disappear records. "I
think Sarah has a unique and clever approach to songwriting - the best
I've come across in a long time. Her musical style fits in perfectly
with my conception of the label." From Pinsker's point of view, the
signing was ideal as well. "I have always admired Sonia's songwriting,
and her political conscience. This label embodies the ideals for which I
would like my music to stand."

"Charmed" was produced by Sonia Rutstein, and features many notable
Baltimore-area musicians, including Troy Engle, John Grant, Chris
Sellman, John Thamakos, Jason Heiser, John Suchy, Howard Markman, Ericka
Crouse, and the Washington, DC band Fifth Business. Sarah's songs range
in style from folk to rock to techno-klezmer. The CD also features
Sarah's interpretation of the Phil Ochs song "Cross My Heart." "Charmed"
is currently available at Sarah's shows, and at http://www.amazon.com .
It will soon be available through The Orchard, Ladyslipper, and
Goldenrod. For Sarah's tour dates, including shows from New York to
